I attribute my vocation to the priesthood to my family and the example of so many faithful priests while I was growing up in Middle Village, Queens. My family was very involved in the life of our parish church, Our Lady of Hope on Eliot Avenue. We would go to mass together as a family and pray together in the home as often as possible. This simple yet profound example has had a lasting impact on me and my spiritual development over these years. I know this was one of the reasons I discerned and eventually entered the Seminary and be formed for the priesthood. Now I have been appointed here as your pastor! Our Lady of Angels is now my new family and home. I am excited about being here to build on the foundation left for us by the example and service of dedicated pastors, priests, religious and laity that have shaped and strengthened our faith over these years. With your help, we will continue to make Our Lady of Angels a place where all are welcomed and where Christ can be praised, worshiped and adored for many years to come.

I was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 1990 for the mission diocese of Sambalpur, in the northern state of Odisha, India. The mission Sambalpur is about 300 miles southwest of Kolkata, the city of St. Mother Teresa. I chose to become a priest in the diocese of Sambalpur because of its missionary spirit in nature. Sambalpur is more than 1500 miles away from my home. I am glad to be part of Our Lady of Angels Parish in the diocese of Brooklyn. It is a great parish with good traditions and good people. I have experienced love, care and support of all. I thank all the priests, especially Fr. Jim Devlin, Msgr. Kevin Noone, Fr. Ken Calder, Fr. Jason Espinal, Fr. Lewk and all the priests and people for accepting me and helping me to feel at home, my second HOME. God bless all! -Fr. Samy

I was born and grew up in New Jersey. Went to Holy Rosary Elementary School St Joseph's High School, Kean University and St Charles Borromeo seminary in Philadelphia for the Diocese of Metuchen N. J. I have a BA in History and an MA in Theology/ Counseling. I worked as a crisis counselor for private special ed schools for students with behavioral issues, worked in recreation programs & summer day camp programs. Also worked part-time for the music industry. I coached basketball little league and senior league baseball. I came to Brooklyn in 2006 assigned to St Patrick's in Bay Ridge was ordained a priest in 2007 for the Brooklyn diocese.
